Blackbart ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Blackbart mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: Email address and display name when you create an account.

Catch Data: Species, date/time, GPS coordinates, photos, and optional notes you provide when logging catches.

Device Information: Device model, OS version, and app version for bug reporting and compatibility.

Environmental Data: We fetch weather, tide, and water conditions from third-party APIs (StormGlass) based on your catch locations to enrich your fishing data.

Chat Conversations: Questions you ask the AI fishing advisor are stored to provide personalized responses.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Fishing predictions: Your catch history trains personal ML models that improve your predictions over time.
• Community insights: Catch data is aggregated at the zone level (e.g., "Sebastian Inlet") to power community features like hot zones, trending species, and leaderboards.
• AI advisor: Your history and preferences help the AI chat provide personalized fishing advice.
• App improvement: Anonymized usage patterns help us improve the app.

3. Location Privacy

Your exact GPS coordinates are never shared with other users. All community features use zone-based aggregation only. When you log a catch, the system maps it to a named zone (e.g., "Port Canaveral Jetty") and only that zone name appears in community data. Your precise fishing spots remain private.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare: Hosting, database, and content delivery.
• Mapbox: Map display and geocoding in the app.
• StormGlass: Weather, tide, and water condition data.
• Anthropic: AI language model for the fishing advisor chat.
• Google Play: App distribution and billing.

These services have their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Catch data and chat history persist until you delete them or delete your account.

6. Your Rights

• Export: You can export all your data (catches, conversations, patterns) from Settings.
• Delete: You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Access: All your personal data is visible in the app (catches, stats, chat history).

7. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of your data. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise your rights, use the in-app data management features or contact us.

8. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app.
